The University of Music and Theatre Munich (Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, HMTM) is seeking to fill the following position
The Wavelab is the innovation lab and start-up center of the University of Music and Theater in Munich and promotes experiments and ventures at the interface of music, arts and media with new technologies.
For the preparation of our next incubator batch starting October 26, 2026, we are seeking a motivated working student with a focus on strategic startup scouting and the opportunity to adapt and expand our existing scouting strategy to other cultural sectors.
Furthermore you´ll support the conception, preparation, and execution of the incubator program and collaborate with external experts and corporate partners to drive innovation in the creative industries.

Your Core Responsibilities:
• Strategic Startup Scouting: Actively search for and evaluate startups in music, arts, and media.
• Incubator Program Preparation: Support the conception, planning, and execution of the program (workshops, events, project management).
• Adaptation of Scouting Strategy: Analyze and optimize the existing strategy to include new cultural sectors.
• Network Building: Collaborate with external experts, partners, and potential sponsors in the creative industries.
• Data Management: Maintain and optimize internal founder data and processes.
You Excel In
• Currently pursuing a graduate degree at a top-tier university (all fields welcome: business, engineering, finance, science, fine arts, etc.).
• A passion for startups, technology, and innovation.
• A collaborative, empathetic, and communicative mindset—you’re a true team player.
• High intellectual curiosity and a self-starter attitude with a growth mindset.
• Ideally, first experience in project management, consulting, or startups.
• Strong presentation and communication skills in both German and English.
• Availability for 15-20 hours per week, primarily on-site at our office, especially during events and key program activities.
